Back in the late 1800's early 1900's pocket watches were extremely popular since wrist watches hadn't been invented yet.  Men would keep the watch in one pocket and typically it would be attached to a chain.  On the other end of that chain would be a counter weight placed in another pocket to anchor your watch and make sure it didn't fall out or get  lost.

Pocket watches also had to be wound, and would sometimes require a key that was placed into the top and twisted.  Over time the winders became a fashion statement and lead to some really interesting designs.

This piece is gold-fill (thick gold plate over base metal) and is double sided.  One side is a gorgeous whiskey colored citrine and on the other white chalcedony.  The sides of the key are carved in a floral pattern, such a great detail.  I have added this to an 18" 14kt yellow gold twisted chain with a spring ring clasp.

*Please note that the gemstones are in great condition with no chipping, but the white chalcedony has a little dark area in one corner.  There is a little piece of the carved brass band missing just beneath the gemstone.
